Dr. Johannes Bruder – Researcher
Johannes Bruder is a researcher at the Institute of Experimental Design and Media Cultures and the Critical Media Lab Basel.
Johannes’s research targets infrastructures, technologies, and media that support epistemologies & empiricisms in art, design, science and their (sub)cultural distortions. He is determined to find alternative modes of being faithful to experience in observing, sensing, representing and exhibiting. Current research interests include interactions between psychological research and computing / AI, narratives and dispositifs of creative practice, and media studies of psychic life.
Johannes is a member of the COST Action Network “European Forum for Advanced Practices” (Working Group 3: Strategies, https://advancedpractices.net) and does conceptual work at awalkingcontradiction.org. In 2019, he was the Head of Study at ECAM, the school’s graduate program for art, design, and media based research.
Former affiliations include the Institute of Advanced Studies “Media Cultures of Computer Simulation” (Leuphana University), eikones Institute of Iconic Criticism (University of Basel), the Department of Social Science, Health and Medicine (SSHM) at King’s College London, and the Graduate School of Humanities and Social Sciences at the University of Lucerne.
