The Mont Pèlerin Rewrite
As part of Haus der Kulturen der Welt’s 2020 Anthropocene Campus program The Shape of A Practice, Orit Halpern, Johannes Bruder and Karolina Sobecka will present The Mont Pèlerin Rewrite in the session Between Spaces, between Lines on Oct 29, 2020.
The Mont Pèlerin Rewrite is a performative and collective effort to imagine a different world than the one instilled by the political-economic ideology of the Mont Pèlerin Society, governed by free markets, floating currencies, and deregulation. In order to learn and unlearn its underlying rationale and reimagine its political and ecological implications, we intervene through rewriting one of its obscure yet powerful operational texts, Article 6 of the Paris Agreement. In the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic the next planned UN Climate Summit has been deferred, and this opens an opportunity to begin re-writing the discourse on climate management in advance, or in absence, of this event. The project convenes a group of researchers and contributors, including our very own Sria Chatterjee and Jan Dutkiewicz (Concordia University).
