Dr. Selena Savic – Researcher
Selena Savic is an architect, media designer and researcher. Her research intersts revolve around the immixture of computational processes with architecture and the built environment, exploring ways to demonstrate abundant communication processes. Her hybrid design practice forms productive connections between the world of tangible experiences and seamless technologies and infrastructures.
Selena holds a joint PhD by EPFL in Lausanne and IST in Lisbon, with a background in architecture (Faculty of Architecture, University of Belgrade, Serbia) and media design (Piet Zwart Institute, Rotterdam, The Netherlands). In 2017 she received SNSF grant for a postdoc fellowship at the department of Architecture Theory and Philosophy of Technics, TU Vienna, Austria where she worked on questions of computation in architectural theory and practice. Between 2011 and 2016 she worked on her doctoral thesis, developing a research through design method to explore the coexistence of wireless communication infrastructures in space designed by and for humans, and how could we design with connectivity in mind. Prior to that, she worked on critical media design projects that engaged with different social and machinic mechanisms. She publishes extensively on the role of digital technologies and infrastructures in creation and organisation of space, particularly in the context of design.
