Andreas Simon – Researcher

Andreas Simon (*1966) was senior researcher at the Institute of Experimental Design and Media Cultures, he is a computer scientist and interaction designer.

He studied Computer Science at the Technische Universität Berlin and the MIT Media Lab. He holds a diploma degree in computer science (TU Berlin 1996).

Andreas Simon lectured new media at HGK FHNW and is coaching master thesis projects. Before coming to HGK FHNW, Andreas has worked as a researcher at the Fraunhofer Institute (IAO) in Stuttgart and as a senior researcher for the Gesellschaft für Mathematik and Datenverarbeitung (GMD) in St. Augustin, Germany.

He has developed software systems, large immersive display systems and novel spatial and multisensory interaction techniques and interaction devices. In collaboration with industrial partners such as BMW, Audi and BP he has designed and developed advanced visualization applications. His interest is in interaction design, collaboration, and the evaluation of interactivity and new media.
