Institutions as a Way of Life researchers Bernhard Garnicnig and Lucie Kolb do a workshop at Kunstmuseum Basel as part of the Urban Vision Research Group. Their workshop deals with the institution of the art museum through fictionalization and asks: How do institutions manifest themselves in our lives? What do we know about institutional behavior? Institutions are created to safeguard values as diverse as workers’ rights, infrastructures, or works of art. At the same time, they are power apparatuses that restrict the lives of those involved, thus creating a space for resistance and reformation, which artists repeatedly appropriate.
