Jamie Allen, Critical Media Lab Senior Researcher, will give a presentation entitled Images of Infrastructure at the Fourth International Conference on Transdisciplinary Imaging at the Intersections of Art, Science and Culture 2016 – THE ATEMPORAL IMAGE. The conference is being Hosted by i-DAT at Plymouth University in the Roland Levinsky Building, located in the heart of Plymouth City.

The conference will access a broad range of imaging technologies located on the Plymouth campus, including the Immersive Vision Theatre, the Wolfson Nanomagnetics Laboratory and the Electron Microsopy Centre. The Transimage Conference runs from the 1st until the 3rd of July, 2016.

From an abstract of the presentation Jamie will give: Images of infrastructure produce particular technological sublimes, myths and reifications that tend toward the reductively simple or the compulsively over-descriptive. They reveal a ‘dark infrastructure’ that can never be depicted, falling between the bubbles and lines, outside the pixels and viewfinders as that which is never captured diagrammatically or photographically.
