How To Build A Lie at Machines fluidiques in Paris
Part of the Chimères scientifiques series at Gaîté Lyrique

Cami’s psychophotography, H. A. Hering’s truth extorting machine, and Auguste Villiers d’Isle-Adam’s optogram are seemingly amusing machines that, alternately, snatch a criminal from an involuntary confession or read in the eyes of a victim the portrait of his murderer.
In their lecture-performance, IXDM’s Jamie Allen and Moritz Greiner-Petter examine “the lie detector”, a device used by the police and insurance companies allegedly capable of decrypting buried feelings in vocal stress.
The evening is part of Chimères scientifiques, a lecture series on the dream life and imaginary of machines, organized by art historian Fleur Hopkins.
