As part of the International Laboratory Week 2020 at Hochschule für Gestaltung Schwäbisch Gmünd, Senior Researcher Jamie Allen and collaborator Abbéy Odunlami will host a workshop on “Food Spectacles: Seeing Power, Eating Culture”, part of interests in urban metabolism, agricultural industry and culinary cultures, also related to the Cycles of Circulation research project.
Sessions will run, online, from the 9th until the 12 of November, and will feature at-home cooking sessions, design exercises about hospitality and cultural appropriation, as well as relationships to food sourcing, preparation, and political economics. The workshop-lab relates to topics ongoing developed with Yann Patrick Martins on the mediation and affective quality of food-media, through the current Critical Media Studies course “Common Rezept”.
