Institutions as a Way of Life researchers contribute with video ethnography and found footage of their Captured & Captioned series to the launch of CONTROL Twenty One at the Chalton Gallery, 96 Chalton Street, London NW1 1HJ on Monday the 29th July between 6-30 to 8-30 pm.

This new issue of CONTROL presents models of socially founded art practice developed from a process of engagement with a community and their context. The contributors have been working in diverse locations and circumstances, but all have taken their art practice outside the institutional status quo and are addressing issues of functionality and meaning in society. In a cultural climate of conformity, these contributions in Issue Twenty One represent a dissent from the prevailing modus operandi, and are a sign post for anyone wanting to explore how they might intervene in the institutionalized fabric of normality, to create fresh and transformative representations of society between people.
