Bernhard Garnicnig as Visiting Scholar at The New School of Social Research

Bernhard Garnicnig, Researcher on the IXDM research project “Institutions as a Way of Life,” is a Visiting Scholar at The New School for Social Research Anthropology Department in New York City, hosted by Prof. Shannon Mattern.

Between October 2019 to June 2020, he will continue working on his dissertation titled “What Artists Institute,” which proposes an extension of the vocabulary with which practices of relation between artists and institutions are conceptualized. While in the US, conversations and visual ethnography inspired fieldwork will take place around artist- and community-run instituesque projects, such as the Museum of Jurassic Technology.
